The West Midlands is the closest major region to us and one of the most useful to work in, because the businesses here tend to be unsentimental. There is the automotive and advanced engineering base around Coventry and Solihull, and the long supply chain of specialist manufacturers behind it. There is the Black Country's dense population of engineering and fabrication SMEs, many of them family-run and long-established. And there is Birmingham's professional and financial services sector, which has grown substantially and behaves like a second City office.
Those groups ask us for different things. The manufacturers want the quoting, specification and compliance paperwork to stop consuming the estimator's week. The professional firms want drafting and research speed without a client confidentiality problem. Both want to know where AI is going to embarrass them. We cover that honestly, because the fastest way to lose a shop floor is to oversell.
Training is hands-on from the start. Your team learns ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini on the documents they actually produce, in plain English, with no coding and no unexplained acronyms. In automotive supply-chain businesses we spend particular time on customer-specific requirements and the tedious work of reformatting the same technical information for each OEM.
Every session covers safe use, and in this region that usually centres on customer drawings, pricing and technical requirements held under NDA. The one-day AI Policy Workshop takes it further and produces your own written AI acceptable use policy, agreed in the room, on the day.

In engineering and fabrication SMEs the estimator is usually the bottleneck, and a large share of the job is re-expressing information that already exists. Teams learn to assemble quotations and technical responses from an approved base of previous work, which shortens the turnaround without inventing numbers. We are explicit that pricing judgement stays human; it is the writing around it that AI takes off your hands.
Every OEM wants the same technical facts in its own format, and somebody spends their week doing that conversion by hand. This is close to an ideal AI task, and it is the demonstration that tends to convert a sceptical room. It also needs the tightest confidentiality rules, which is exactly why we teach both together.
Accountancy, law and advisory firms in the city get the same win as their London counterparts: research, summarising and first-draft correspondence compressed dramatically. The difference is that mid-sized regional firms rarely have an internal AI policy yet, so we usually end up writing one.
