Sheffield built an advanced manufacturing and materials cluster on the back of its engineering history and it is now one of the more research-intensive places in the north. The Humber runs on ports, energy and the offshore wind supply chain. York has rail engineering and bioscience. Bradford and the wool towns still manufacture, and still export.
We take that seriously when we build a session, because the AI task that transforms a Leeds insurance team's week is not the one that helps a Sheffield engineering firm or a Hull freight operator. We ask what your people actually produce, and we train on that. Claims correspondence and client reporting, or technical documentation and grant applications, or shipping and exceptions paperwork.
The teaching itself is hands-on and plainly spoken, which tends to suit the audience. Your team learns ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini on real work, with no coding and no acronyms left hanging. We also spend time on where AI is simply wrong, because a room full of Yorkshire engineers will find the limits within about ten minutes and it is better if we get there first.
Safe use is in every session. For the Leeds financial and legal firms that means client and personal data under regulatory obligation; for manufacturing and energy it means commercially sensitive technical material. Financial services, insurance and legal firms in the city have a large volume of structured writing that must be accurate and consistent: correspondence, client reporting, file notes, summaries of long documents. AI shortens all of it dramatically, and every one of those outputs needs a named human check before it leaves. We teach both halves, and we are blunt that the check is not optional.
Advanced manufacturing and materials businesses spend a surprising amount of time writing: grant applications, research summaries, technical specifications, capability statements for new customers. It is high-skill writing that senior engineers resent doing, which makes it an unusually good fit for a trained AI workflow with expert review.
Freight, port and offshore wind supply-chain operations run on documentation that is repetitive but consequential, and on explaining delays and exceptions to several parties at once. Teams learn to draft those from raw facts quickly and consistently. It is rarely the glamorous use case and it is almost always the one that pays back first.
