AI training for scientists helps R&D directors, biotech founders and scientific consultancy teams organise literature workflows, prepare grant drafts, explain findings and reduce research administration. The Oxford AI School delivers a practical half-day for up to eight people, online or in person across the UK, for 拢2,299 +VAT. The focus is better research operations, with source checking and scientific judgement built in.

More time on the science. Less time formatting the update.
The experiment is only part of the working week. There is the funding application, the partner update, the paper you need to understand before tomorrow, and the same result explained to three different audiences. We help scientific teams use AI on that surrounding work, with the scepticism you would expect from anyone handling evidence.
Four practical modules, built around your work
Module 01
Literature workflows with a paper trail
Build a research question and a search plan before asking for an answer.
Structure notes from supplied papers around methods, findings and limitations.
Create an evidence table with source passages and unanswered questions.
Check citations against the original publication and flag missing evidence.
Module 02
Funding applications and project planning
Turn a funder鈥檚 published criteria into an application checklist.
Draft work-package outlines from your own objectives, methods and resources.
Improve plain-language summaries without adding unsupported claims.
Prepare risk registers and partner questions for review by the project team.
Module 03
Research operations and reporting
Turn approved meeting notes into decisions, actions and dependencies.
Draft SOP structures from an existing, validated process for expert review.
Prepare progress reports that separate completed work from planned work.
Document data-cleaning steps and analysis assumptions so someone else can inspect them.
Module 04
Explain the science without losing it
Draft a technical, commercial and lay summary from the same checked material.
Prepare partner briefings that state what a finding does and does not show.
Build investor questions and answers around verified milestones.
Turn approved expertise into useful service pages and thought leadership.

A literature summary should make the sources easier to inspect.
Take a small set of public papers you have permission to use. Ask AI for a comparison table with study design, sample, key finding, limitations and the exact source location. Verify each row. The useful output is an organised route back to the evidence, not a confident paragraph that hides where it came from.
Measure the time to produce a verified evidence table or a checked partner update, alongside the number of citation and interpretation errors caught in review. Faster work only counts if it survives scrutiny.
Standards before shortcuts
No invented citations. No silent changes to the evidence.
AI-generated references, calculations and code need verification. We use public or approved example material, keep confidential IP and unpublished results within agreed boundaries, and separate drafting from scientific validation. This is not training in clinical decision-making, specialist predictive modelling or running autonomous experiments. Your team owns the methods, interpretation and sign-off.
We work with tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, choosing what fits the task and your approved environment. We agree priorities beforehand, practise together and leave you with reusable materials. Tool subscriptions and any integration work are discussed separately.
10 minutes. No commitment. Tell us about your team, your evidence standards and the recurring work getting in the way. We鈥檒l build the session around a useful starting point.
Is this AI training for scientists who do not code?
Yes. The half-day starts with practical generative AI workflows in plain English. A scientific background is useful for judging the output; programming experience is not required.
Can AI do our literature review?
AI can help organise search plans and summarise supplied papers, but it can miss evidence, misinterpret findings and invent references. You remain responsible for the search strategy, source verification and final interpretation.
Do you train biotech and scientific consultancy teams?
Yes. The session can focus on research operations, funding drafts, partner communications or explaining specialist services. We agree the scope with the founder or team leader.
Will the session cover confidential research or unpublished IP?
We agree information boundaries first and start with public, fictional or approved material. Do not bring confidential data into a tool simply because it is convenient for a demonstration.
Cost, format and booking
How much does AI training for scientists cost?
The half-day programme is 拢2,299 +VAT for up to eight people, delivered live online or in person. Takeaway materials and 30 days of follow-up are included. Tell us your location and requirements when you enquire so the full arrangements can be confirmed.
Do we need to know how to use ChatGPT or Claude already?
No. We start with the tools and the briefing habits you need for the agreed tasks. You practise on examples relevant to your team and learn to check the result. No coding is required for the half-day sector session.
Can you deliver the training at our premises?
Yes. We are based in Witney, Oxfordshire and deliver in person across the UK, or live online. We agree the location, practical arrangements and session priorities before booking.
What is the next step after the half-day?
Choose a deeper module based on the work you want to improve. Options include AI policy, winning business, GEO and the Claude Code pathway. Advanced Claude Code requires the introductory module or equivalent experience; Building Agents requires the advanced foundations.
How do we book a session?
Book a free 10-minute intro call through Get In Touch, or email Learn@TheOxfordAISchool.com. We discuss your team, the tasks you want to improve and the right training before confirming a date.
