How to cancel Grok, in short
Cancel where you pay. SuperGrok bought on grok.com, Grok access through X, and app-store purchases are each cancelled in a different place.
- SuperGrok on the web: sign in at grok.com, open Settings, then Billing, choose Manage subscription and follow the prompts to cancel.
- Through X: if your Grok access comes with X Premium or an X subscription, cancel it in X's Premium or subscription settings.
- iPhone, iPad or Android: cancel in iOS Settings → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
- X advises cancelling at least 24 hours before auto-renewal. Cancelling one plan does not cancel the others.

The golden rule: find out which Grok plan is billing you
Grok is unusual because the same assistant can be paid for in several ways: a direct SuperGrok plan from xAI, an X Premium or X subscription that includes Grok, or a purchase through Apple or Google Play. Each one is cancelled in its own place.
Cancelling X Premium will not necessarily stop a separate SuperGrok plan, and the reverse is also true. If you have used Grok on both the web and your phone, you could have two subscriptions running at once.
Not sure who is billing you? Check the receipt in your email. It will say xAI, X, Apple or Google Play, and that tells you exactly which set of steps below to follow.

How to cancel SuperGrok on the web
- Sign in to grok.com with the account that has the paid plan.
- Open Settings, then Billing.
- Choose your current plan or Manage subscription.
- Follow the cancellation prompts and save the confirmation.
If the manage button will not open, xAI suggests trying a private browsing window or another browser, since extensions and ad blockers can interfere.
How to cancel Grok access through X
If your receipt shows X Premium or an X subscription, manage it through X on the platform where you subscribed.
- On the X website, open the Premium or subscription section from the menu.
- Choose Manage subscription.
- Follow the cancellation prompts. If Apple or Google billed the X plan, cancel in that store instead.
X says Premium benefits normally continue until the end of the billing cycle. Account linking, switching plans and cancelling are different actions, so read each screen carefully.
How to cancel Grok on iPhone or iPad
- Open the iOS Settings app and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose Grok, then Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If there is no Cancel option, look for an expiry message, and check the Apple account shown on your receipt.
How to cancel Grok on Android
- Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Grok, tap Cancel subscription and confirm.
Deleting the Grok app does not cancel a store subscription. Check the Play Store's subscriptions screen afterwards.
How to check the Grok cancellation actually worked
Look for more than one receipt
Check the grok.com billing page, your X subscription settings and both app stores. Each plan needs cancelling in its own place.
Confirm it in three places
- The email. A cancellation confirmation should arrive from whoever billed you: xAI or X, Apple or Google Play. No email, no cancellation.
- The subscription screen. It should now show an end or expiry date rather than a renewal date.
- Your bank or card statement. Check on the day after the old renewal date would have fallen.
Keep cancelling and deleting separate
Stopping a subscription does not delete your account or conversations, and deleting an account is not a substitute for cancelling. Cancel first, then decide.
When does Grok access stop, and can you get a refund?
Paid features normally continue until the end date shown after you cancel. Free Grok access may remain, with tighter limits.
Refunds are discretionary rather than automatic. Contact whoever took the money: xAI for SuperGrok, X for an X subscription, or Apple or Google for a store purchase.
Before you cancel Grok: three things worth trying first
Grok has genuine strengths, particularly around current public conversation. The question is whether those strengths match your work.
1. Test it on a real question
