How to cancel Perplexity, in short
Cancel where you pay. Paid on the web? Cancel in Perplexity Settings. Paid through your phone's app store? Cancel with Apple or Google.
- Web: open Perplexity, go to Settings, scroll to Subscription, choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel subscription.
- iPhone or iPad: App Store, tap your profile, Subscriptions, choose Perplexity, then Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play Store, profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose Perplexity and cancel.
- Deleting your Perplexity account does not cancel the subscription. You keep Pro or Max until the end of the billing cycle.

The golden rule: cancel Perplexity where you pay for it
Perplexity has separate cancellation routes for web, iPhone and Android purchases. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, the cancel option will not even appear in Perplexity's own settings, because the app store controls the billing.
There is a second trap: Perplexity says deleting your account does not end the subscription. Cancel first, check it worked, and only then decide whether to delete anything.

How to cancel Perplexity on the web
- Sign in to Perplexity in a browser with the account that holds the paid plan.
- Open Settings and scroll to the Subscription section.
- Choose Manage Subscription to open your current plan.
- Choose Cancel subscription and follow the confirmation steps.
Go back to Settings and check the Subscription section now shows when your paid access ends.
How to cancel Perplexity on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and tap your profile icon, or open iOS Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose Perplexity, then Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If there is no Cancel button, the subscription may already be cancelled; look for its expiry date. If Perplexity is not listed at all, Apple is not billing you.
How to cancel Perplexity on Android
- Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Perplexity, tap Cancel subscription and confirm.
Uninstalling the app does not stop a Google Play subscription. Check the Play Store's subscriptions screen for an end date.
Perplexity is still charging me: what now?
Check the right account and billing provider
Check Settings, Subscription, Manage Subscription for a web plan, or the Apple or Google subscriptions list for a store plan. Your receipts and bank statement will show who is taking the money.
Contact whoever is on the receipt
If the plan shows as cancelled but a new charge appears, contact Perplexity support for a web purchase, or Apple or Google for a store purchase. Give the transaction date and receipt details, but never send card numbers in a support message.
How to check the Perplexity cancellation actually worked
Do not trust the confirmation screen alone
Two minutes of checking now saves an irritating email to support next month.
Confirm it in three places
- The email. A cancellation confirmation should arrive from whoever billed you: Perplexity, Apple or Google Play. No email, no cancellation.
- The subscription screen. It should now show an end or expiry date rather than a renewal date.
- Your bank or card statement. Check on the day after the old renewal date would have fallen.
When does Perplexity access stop, and can you get a refund?
Perplexity says your account returns to the free version at the end of the current billing cycle, so you keep Pro or Max until then.
Refunds are discretionary rather than automatic. Go to whoever took the money: Perplexity for a web subscription, Apple or Google for a store subscription. Be prompt and specific about the date and amount.
Before you cancel Perplexity: three things worth trying first

1. Use it for a real research job

- Cited answers. Quick answers with links to sources, within the free plan's limits.
- Your library. Cancelling does not delete your account or your past threads.
- A way back. You can resubscribe any time from Settings.
